An asymptote is a line that the graph is appraoching but never reaches. Like 2^x=y approaches zero but never reaches it.
For 7 and 8, you can show than the denominator of 7 can't equal cro and the square root can't be nagative. In 8, you can show thtat anything aquared is positive and then work from that.
