I do not understand #17. Is it a arithmetic or geometic? however is it a pattern because it is addition? and how do we find the sum?

The pattern in number seventeen is going to be an arithmetic series because it uses addition. I haven't actually done the problem yet though so I don't know the answer.
for 17, just go to the calc menu on the home screen and find the sigma option, enter the (expression e.i. x^2 + 2, the variable e.i. x, the start of the sum e.i. 7, the end of the summation e.i. 12). that should give you the answer for 17
