Practice Test Questions

What did other people get for #5? I wasn't really sure how to do it but I said that -8<=x<=4.
For #12 how do you make x=0 at 1990 in the data matrix program?
For 14c how do you find the minimum? I got y1=x^2 +800,000/x and graphed it but had trouble finding an upper bound in order to use the minimum function in the math menu.
How do you solve #16. I know you use the distance formula and set it equal to 4 but i'm not sure how to set up the rest of the equation.

I don't know how to do #5, sorry.
For #12, if 1990=0, then 1992=2, 1994=4 and so on. You just type 2,4,6,8...in c1, that is what I did.
For #14c, I think I also had a trouble to find min at the beginning, but after I tried several times, I got minimun (73.7,36.8).
For #16, I got two equations, y=4x+2, 4^2=(x-0)^2+(y-0)^2, and sovle them. (-1.43,-3.73) and (.49,3.97).

i wasn't sure if you were supposed to factor the equation and then try to find the numbers or not...

For number 5 on the practice test, i thought about which horizontal lines would exist such that the graph given corses this horizontal line 4 times like (y=50). Then, find the highest and lowest horizontal lines in which this intersections occurs. Those max and min will be your min and max for k.
