Quiz 1-3
On the quiz for number 4. The correct answer is scaled first then translated left, but if you scale by 1/4 first then replace the x with x + 8 wouldnt you get 4(x+8) + 1 instead of 4x + 9? What am I missing?

You are forgeting that the graph begins at x+1 which means it is already 1 unit left of the graph with simply x so if the graph is translated 8 to the left the one unit it has already moved must be added giving you x+9.
