In problems where you have a Asubn I.E.: 5(an)^2+4(-1)^n and you are not given any values for an how do you figure out what to use for it? Is it just the value of n or what?
Blog for students in Mr. Karafiol's Period 4 Precalculus BC class to talk about math, learning math, etc.

for this one, you are supposed to use the fibonacci series (1,1,2,3,5,8,13...). so when n=1, asubn=1; when n=4, asubn=3; when n=5, asubn=5; etc... I definitely skipped this problem at first because I was wondering the same thing, but then i read the directions and it says that #s59-63 deal with the fibonaccis.
